The Film Machine
Seven minutes. Roz and Brian set it up, then I walk you through the plan myself, inside the operating system that runs this company.
Where Episode 1 left off
Last time, every one of our operating systems got a new home screen. We call it Birdseye. That fixed the systems. But the films on the shelf still showed the old screens, with the menu down the left side.
The problem
Twelve systems were still waiting on new films. Two of them, Buttress OS and Toolbelt OS, had already been remade by hand. I can’t advertise the old walkthroughs.
The plan
The machine lives inside my own operating system, the AE OS. I start with one system, test it, then convert the rest. It takes each film all the way: producing the video, adding the voices, adding the music. For every system it makes two films, a walkthrough and a commercial, and puts them on the shelves in the store.
A film can open one of two ways. The Website look opens on the saucer and films the live site, which is exactly why I built the site. The Classic look opens on a dark drafting board where a drawing of the trade draws itself.
The tour
In the film I show you the AE OS, the operating system that makes operating systems. Any of them can be white labeled, which means the customer’s own name, logo and colors on a system built from the same core. Then the machine room: the hub builder, the Birdseye Machine, the white label hub factory, the skin machine and the ad factory. Instead of doing one at a time, I built myself a machine.
What is already done
The first two films, made by hand, are in the showrooms now: Toolbelt OS for HVAC, plumbing and electrical, and Buttress OS for architecture. One system that makes the systems. One machine that makes their films.
Scope
Episode 2 documents the regeneration of the store’s product films after the fleet-wide Birdseye shell migration (fourteen systems, overnight, October 10–11, 2026). Twelve systems still carried walkthroughs recorded on the legacy left-rail shell; Buttress OS and Toolbelt OS had been re-recorded manually.
Website Film Machine
A per-system pipeline inside the AE OS: capture, edit, voice from the house voice engine, music bed, gate, publish to the system’s store shelf. Two deliverables per system: a long-form walkthrough and a short commercial. One system runs first as the test case; the fleet follows.
Two openings
Website: opens on the Studio saucer and records the live production site. Classic: a dark drafting-board open with line art of the trade rendered on screen.
The machine room
The hub builder takes a brand name, short name and tagline and writes the configuration for a new hub. The Birdseye Machine takes a trade and its rooms and writes the home-shell profile. Alongside them: the white label hub factory, the skin machine and the ad factory. White labeling applies the customer’s name, mark and palette to a system built from the shared core.
